K-9 Deputy Athena is one of Pushmataha county's drug dogs, but after dozens of drug operations, she's developed health problems and needs surgery. Now, the Sheriff's office is asking for the community's help.
K-9 Deputy Athena is one of two drug dogs donated to the Pushmataha County Sheriff's Office. Her handler, Deputy Polly Culver, said Athena's assisted in dozens of drug arrests with her 100% accurate snout. But last year, she noticed the two-and-a-half year old canine was in pain.

The opening of the new community center and field office in Antlers took place on Tuesday, March 26th. Drawing over 200 individuals to the momentous event, who came out to show their support, the hopes for this new center are to provide larger areas for senior citizens to gather for meals, hold meetings and classes, and offers office space and much needed parking.
Located at 400 1/2 S.W. “O” Street, the new building is over 8,000 square feet, much larger than the old one, seats 170 people, has emergency backup generators, fire sprinklers and will include a workout room.

On private property 6 miles north of Antlers, Mark R. Rowland, a 57 year old white male form Pottsboro, TX., swerved to miss a deer, hit a rock and rolled a 2012 Honda ATV.
Rowland was transported by Air Evac to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa with head, internal and external trunk injuries but was listed in stable condition.
The accident occurred at 9:10 p.m. on Friday, March 15, 2013.
The collision was investigated by Trooper Tommy Allen, E-304, of the Pushmataha County Detachment.
Jury recommends 60 years in prison
A nine man, three woman jury deliberated for just over two hours on Thursday before convicting Mardieth Neil Farrell of Antlers of all three felony charges which he faced and recommending that he serve sixty years in Prison. Farrell was charged with Sexual Assault of a Child, Showing Pornography to a Child and Physical Abuse of a Child.
Pushmataha County Sheriff’s Deputy Polly Culver with her partner K-9 Deputy Athena, and Deputy Shawn Culver with his partner K-9 Deputy Reiko were excited when they got to visit Ms. Parks 1st Grade class at Antlers Elementary.
Ms. Parks had contacted Deputy Polly Culver with the news that her class had earned a reward and they had asked if the drug dog could come visit them at school.
