Escaped inmate considered armed and dangerous

Law enforcement officials are looking for an escaped inmate in Atoka county, considered armed and dangerous.

56-year-old, Kenneth Beasley, is a white man-- 5'11", weighing about 200 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes.

The Atoka County Sheriff's office says Beasley escaped from the Howard McLeod Correctional Center Wednesday evening.

He has a scar above his left eye, and multiple tattoos, including leaves and mushrooms on his left wrist, and cherries on his right wrist.

The Department of Corrections website shows Beasley was serving time for armed robbery.

Local doctor arrested after assaulting an officer

An ER doctor, at Choctaw Memorial Hospital in Hugo, was arrested after allegedly assaulting a police officer.

Police say around 12:30 Tuesday morning, 50-year-old Dr. Steve Mederios refused to treat an inmate who had ripped out his stitches.

The inmate then tried to attack the doctor but was quickly restrained by an officer. Medeiros then verbally attacked the officer and bumped the officer with his chest.

Moyers Superintendent stands up for students after tragic loss

State Superintendent Janet Barresi, after feeling the pressure from voters and state officials, finally exempted two students at Moyers Public School from state testing Wednesday after the school’s superintendent posted an impassioned note on the system’s Facebook page, and it went viral!
