Lt. Col. (Retired) Norman Earl Lawless was born January 5, 1922 in Sobol to Charles Carroll and Emma Jane (Morphew) Lawless. He passed from this life July 22, 2011 in Antlers at the age of 89. Norman served his country during World War II, the Korean Conflict, and the Vietnam War. He flew a B-29 as a bombadier and a B-52 as a radar navigator. Norman retired from the United States Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel. He married Coletta Jo Floyd May 23, 1951 in Denison, TX., and together they raised two children.
Delores â€śDeeâ€ť Jean Rember was born May 2, 1942 in Atoka to Elgin Elmore and Flossie Mae (Pool) King. She passed from this life July 20, 2011 in Sherman, TX., at the age of 69. Dee married Frank Rember June 17, 1961 in Antlers. She lived in this area her entire life except from 1961 to 1976 when she was Frankâ€™s navy wife. She enjoyed socializing on Facebook, playing bingo and, in her earlier years, playing basketball. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, friends and family.
Michael Jeffery Hamill was born October 27, 1975 in Moore to Shelby Hamill and Fara Lynn (Fuller) Wheeler. He passed from this life July 22, 2011 in Grant at the age of 35. Jeff had lived in the Rattan area for the past 25 years. He was a member of the Victory Assembly of God Church in Rattan. Jeff enjoyed spending time with his kids, cleaning his car, playing drums & OU football. Jeff was preceded in death by his grandparents: Sid & Ellen Hamill.
Sammie Ray Cochran was born February 27, 1929 in Cloudy to Joe Lewis Simon and Ethel (Pierce) Cochran. He passed from this life July 19, 2011 in Rattan at the age of 82. Sammie enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, his dogs, cats, and deer.
James Charles Hancock was born March 4, 1951 in Miller to Leslie P. Hancock and Floy Holder. He passed from this life on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 in Oklahoma City at the age of 60. James had lived in the Antlers area all of his life. He married Margery McCort (Pearson) in 1994.
Floyd Thomas Ansley was born October 7, 1927 in Randlett to James Thomas and Ruth Bell (Smith) Ansley. He passed from this life on Monday, July 25, 2011 in Antlers at the age of 83. Floyd had lived in this area all of his life and was a member of the Church of Christ in Boswell and Hugo. He served his country in the United States Navy, on the U.S.S. Saratoga, during WWII from 1944 to 1946. He married Betty Zane Walker on September 16, 1948 in Denison, TX. Floyd worked and retired from the Kiamichi Railroad. After retiring, he owned and operated a Pulpwood business in Antlers.
Claudia Ellen VanVoast Boyd passed from this life on July 14, 2011 at her home in Combine, TX. She lost a well fought battle with cancer at the age of 62. Claudia is survived by her husband of 34 years, Wallace Boyd, her mother Vivan VanVoast, daughter Amy Hurst and son Loren Boyd. The memorial service was held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 18, 2011 at Our Merciful Savior Episcopal Church in Kaufman, TX. In liew of flowers, donations should be made to the Crandall Library in memory of Claudia Boyd. She was greatly loved. A memorial service will also be held at 2:00 p.m.
Jerry Herbert LaMothe was born March 19, 1936 in Newberry, MI., to George and Fern Ann (St. John) LaMothe. He passed from this life July 17, 2011, at the age of 75. Jerry served his country in the United States Army, 82nd Airborne Division during the Korean Conflict. He married Lenora Stephens in California and together, they raised two children. Jerry worked as a foreman and supervisor on numerous construction jobs. When Jerry wasnâ€™t working, he was enjoying his favorite sport of hunting. He also loved spending time with his family & friends.
Bob Parsons was born August 8, 1985 in Idabel to B.J. Parsons and Yonna Parsons. He passed from this life on July 3, 2011 in Idabel at the age of 25. A Carpenter, Bob had lived in McCurtain County all of his life and was of the Baptist faith.Â He enjoyed working and fixing things, taking his kids fishing, going mudding and spending time with his family and friends.
Bobby Joe Bridges was born November 12, 1929 in Kiowa to William Leo and Vera (Youngblood) Bridges. He passed from this life July 5, 2011 in Tulsa at the age of 81. Bobby served his county in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Melissa Storey September 9, 1953 in Oklahoma City. Bobby was a lifetime member of the VFW. He enjoyed race cars, especially drag racing and going to the bar to have a few drinks and visits with his friends and grandkids. He loved spending time with his family and friends.
