Vicki Bell Savage was born December 30, 1946 in Copeville, TX., to Walter Levi and Jessie Henrietta (Jones) Wester. She passed from this life on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 in Antlers at the age of 64. Vicki married Clarence Troy Savage on May 6, 1965 in Gilliam, AR. They have lived in this community for 35 years and together, have raised five children. Vickiâs legacy lives on through her four daughters, one son, ten grandchildren and two greats. Vicki was a member of Finley Baptist Church and she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She touched many lives.
Sammie Louise (Tipton) Edmondson was born on March 31, 1934 in Comanche to the late Mr. Jess G. Tipton and Mrs. Minnie Roberta (Scott) Tipton. She passed from this life on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 in Rattan at the age of 77. Sammie was raised at Mountain Home attending school there until her high school years where she graduated from Ringling High School. She married Mr. Melvin âRedâ Rhea Edmondson February 4, 1952 at Ft. Hood, TX. They initially made their home in Ringling before they moved to Alaska. Sammie always worked very hard.
Joe Bob Penner, 73, passed from this life on Saturday, April 23, 2011 in Farris. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at the Farris Baptist Church. Interment followed at the Darwin Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Brownâs Funeral Service in Atoka.
Billy Allen DeWitt, 67, of Nashoba, passed away Monday, April 25, 2011 at his residence.Â Graveside services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at Nolia Cemetary in Nolia with Conley Wright officiating.Â

Kenneth Ray Boyett was born March 1, 1950 in Antlers to Everett John Boyett and Ora Lee (Porter) Boyett. He passed from this life on Sunday, April 24, 2011 in Paris, TX. Kenneth joined the Air Force after High School in 1969 and served 4 years. He had his own mobile home set up business in Wichita, KS, was a truck driver, a cement hauler and oil field worker. Kenneth grew up in Rattan and moved back to the area four years ago. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Mary Durham was born in Rattan on January 12, 1922 to Parker & Eva Mae Rosenthal. She passed from this life on April 18, 2011 in Mt. Juliet, TN., at the age of 89. Mary married James H. Durham in September of 1943. Mary was of German and Choctaw descent. She worked as a high school teacher, a farm worker and during WWII, she worked in a plant building fighter planes. After the war she raised their children and became her sons' Cub Scout/Boy Scout Den Mother. She was also active in the church as a Sunday School teacher.
Eva Nell Wilkins was born October 8, 1926 in Soper to Ruby and Lucille (Mote) Sinks. She went home to be with the Lord April 16, 2011 in Antlers at the age of 84. Eva lived in this area for the past seven years. She enjoyed watching westerns and wrestling. She especially loved spending time with her friends and family. Eva was preceded in death by her parents: Ruby & Lucille Sinks; brothers: Willie Sinks and James Sinks; grandchildren: Wesley Michael Kellogg, Thomas Ray Wilkins and Tametha Lawon Burnett.
Janice Yuvone Watson was born August 4, 1974 in Antlers to Jerry and Esther Denise (Smith) Watson. She passed from this life April 12, 2011 in Antlers at the age of 36. Janice was a member of Kosoma Church. She enjoyed outdoor activities, such as arrowhead hunting and being on the river. She really liked to swim. Janice was devoted to her elderly friends, always checking to make sure they were taken care of. She loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her daughter, Brittany and her constant companion, Katie.
Bonnie Lee Vaughan was born April 4, 1928 in Miami to William Holland and Grace Adelaide (Lee) Gordon. She passed from this life April 15, 2011 in Dallas, TX, at the age of 83. Bonnie Lee Gordon married Cecil Vaughan April 3, 1948 in Miami and together they raised four children. Bonnie had lived in this area since 1966 and was a member of NARFE and Town and County Club. She was also a dedicated member of First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, reading, playing with her grandchildren and spending time with her family and friends.
Alta May Rhodes was born February 25, 1913 in Hot Springs, AR., to Thomas Jefferson and Margaret Ada (Long) Pate. She passed from this life April 16, 2011 in Antlers at the age of 98. Alta was a member of Rebeccaâs Lodge and the First Baptist Church since 1948. She worked as a clerk for Halley Drug Store and as a Nurse for the hospital from 1969 till age 70. Alta enjoyed playing dominoes and gardening. Her goal in life was to help people.
