The Bearcats split a double header Friday night picking up a win against Clayton and a loss to Atoka.
Starting out against the Bulldogs in the 1st inning with two catches by center fielder, Chandon Draper and a strike out by pitcher Dakota Turner the Bearcats were off to a good start. Offensively the Bearcats would score 3 runs with a double hit by Bryce Martin and single from Turner, Drew McKnight, and Arizona Taylor. Draper would draw a walk.
The Pushmataha County 4-H held its annual Speech and Demonstrations contest on Wednesday, March 14th at the United Methodist Church in Antlers. Seventy one 4-Herâ€™s participated in the contest. New county officers were also voted in.
The new officers are: Kat Bailey, Song Leader, Trey Greer, Game Leader, Tyanna Thurman, Recreational Leader, Will Lewis, Reporter, Tiffany Noel, Treasurer, Lindsay Hedrick, Secretary, Colby Watts, Co Vice-President, Dillon Hembree, Co Vice-President and Brandon Alford, President.
The Rattan Rams Junior High Baseball Team won 1st Place in the Valliant Junior High Baseball Tournament held on March 1st - 3rd. During the tournament, the team defeated Valliant, Lukfata and Broken Bow.
The basketball court is not the only place the Lady Rams succeeded this season. Theyâ€™re also doing quite well in the classroom. Rattanâ€™s varsity girls basketball team was recognized as the academic state champions for Class 2A. The ceremony took place on championship Saturday March 10 at State Fair Arena. Rattan boasted a GPA of 3.96 for the first semester. That honor shouldnâ€™t come as much of a surprise, though. The Lady Rams were also named academic state champions for the spring 2011 slow-pitch softball season and 2011 fall fast-pitch season.
Terry Bunch, of Mills-Coffey Funeral Home in Antlers, presents a check for $500.00 to Jordan Haddox of the Pushmataha County Junior Bassmasters. The money will be used to purchase prizes for the clubs 2012 Youth Fishing Tournaments.
On Saturday, March 10, members of the Pushmataha County Sportsman Club held their first bass tournament of 2012. The tournament was a team tournament held on McGee Creek Lake.
Twenty-nine members competed in the event. Despite less that favorable fishing conditions, with temperatures near freezing at the start of the tournament, nearly all that entered were able to bring checking size fish to the weigh-in.

Charles White, 7th grader at Oâ€™buch Middle School took home 3rd place in his weight division, 198 lbs at the Junior High School State Weight Lifting competition on Thursday, March 1, 2012. Congratulations on a job well done!
