Weather forces scramble format change

April 21, 2011

Last Thursday we played CATS as not many people showed up for the scramble. Of course the threat of foul weather was in the air. We did get in 9 holes before the weather really started to deteriorate.

We had 3 players win CATS. Moe Calder, Randy Dillishaw and Brad Mills won 1 each. To win a CAT a person must win a hole over everyone who is playing. One ties, all tie. Big Randy and Moe also won KPs. Randy got 4 and Moe got 6.

I think everyone who participated enjoyed the format. As I stated last week, if 12 people don't show up we're gonna play CATS. Good idea Tina! Where were you?

Golf Course Hosts AHS Tournament

April 14, 2011

Antlers Springs Golf Course hosted one of my favorite tournaments last Wednesday, April 6th. That was t he annual High School Girls Tournament hosted by the Lady Cats Golf Team. Seven schools were represented and 24 girls played.

Antlers placed 3rd as a team in the tournament behind Haworth and Allen. Not bad considering our team is young and has a couple or three years left to play. Magan Buchanan, Hanna Maple, Kaci Hokett and Breanna Rosa make up our squad. Their total score was 450.

Bass Tournament Proves Challenging for Anglers, Another Tournament Scheduled

April 6, 2011

Thirty-one members of the Pushmataha County Sportsman Club competed in a team bass tournament on April 2, 2011 at Sardis Lake. The tournament began at "safe light" with temperatures in the low 40’s and ended at 4:00 p.m. with temperatures in the low 80’s. Catching a keeper proved to be difficult as half of the anglers were unable to bring a keeper bass to the final weigh-in. Those who were able to find some "keeper" bass were able to put together some nice stringer weights.

On Thursday, January 13th, the Moyers Lady Tigers went claw to talon against the Eagletown Lady Eagles in a brutal games on the Tigers home court.  First to get their hands on the ball were the Moyers Lady Tigers.  The girls were slow to start but gave it their all as they attempted to but the ball through the net.    With a few good breakaway shots by #15- Maddi Clark, #24- Shelby Clark, #23-Shelby Geary and #22 Kalli Winters, the Lady Tigers were able to keep the score within 10 going into half-time.  At the half the Lady Eagles were still clutching onto the lead with a score of 20-10.

March 25, 2011

In a home game against  the Eagletown Eagles on Thursday, January 13th, the Moyers Tigers were ready to show everyone what they were made of, especially the Eagles who they had lost to earlier in the season.  The Tigers jumped out to an early lead but it didn’t last long as the Eagles quickly came back. #21- Brandon Slocum and #24- Jake Mattingly were on the court and playing some ball!  With #22- Terrell Morgan sinking a 3 pointer at the buzzer the Tigers ended the end the first half with a score of 27 to 12.

Bearcats Get One Up On Tigers

March 25, 2011

The Antlers Bearcats and Lady Cats celebrated their Basketball Homecoming on Friday, January 21, 2011 at the Bearcat Gym.  The Bearcats took the court against the Tigers with something to prove. After the whistle signifying the start of the game the Bearcats drew first blood.  From right of the bat this was a very physical, fast paced and aggressive game.  The Tigers learned very quickly that #33- Bryce Martin couldn’t be left uncovered because of his 3-point shooting abilities.  At half-time the score was Bearcats 24, Tigers 17.
