Alford Dotson Bruce

Alford Dotson Bruce was born November 11, 1954 in Hugo to Grover A. and Mamie Lee (Ray) Bruce. He passed from this life July 30, 2011 in Antlers at the age of 56. Alford had lived in Antlers most of his life. Growing up he worked at local area ranches. He married Barbara Collins, raised one stepson and daughter then moved to the Longview, TX., area where he worked for T. A. W. Construction as a mechanic, truck driver, and dozer operator. After their divorce he moved back to Antlers and married Judy Cathy of Coalgate and together they raised one son. He went to work for Donald Leslie Cattle Company as a truck driver. Alford later moved back to Longview to work for Nolan Construction. He divorced again and moved back to Antlers to help take care of his mother after his father's death. Alford was preceded in death by his father: Grover A. Bruce; grandparents: Bill & Gracie Bruce of Antlers and Marshall & Ethal Ray of Soper. He is survived by his mother: Mamie Lee Bruce; children: Samantha Gail Bruce of Leesburg, TX., Stetson Kray Bruce of Antlers and step son Chad Alando Collins of Yantis,TX.; grandchildren: Ansleigh Brianna Reilmann, Cameron Taylor Dailey, Gavin Craig Dailey, Emmalee Kaie Bruce, and Tatum Collins; brothers: Ricky Lynn Bruce & wife Tammy and Harold Ray Bruce & wife Anita of Antlers; sisters: Caril Lee Collins (Bruce) & husband Don of Antlers; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 5, 2011 at the Hall Baptist Church with Wes Haddox officiating. Musical selections will include “Go Rest High On That Mountain.” Pallbearers will be: Charles Sanders, Ronnie Sanders, Rodney Taylor, Melton Snow, Gerald Hollingback and Ricky Danial. Honorary pallbearers are Wayne Ross, Mike Low, Randy Low and James Dunham. Interment will follow at the Hall Cemetery in the Hall Community.
