Bass Tournament met with near freezing temps

On Saturday, March 10, members of the Pushmataha County Sportsman Club held their first bass tournament of 2012. The tournament was a team tournament held on McGee Creek Lake.

Twenty-nine members competed in the event. Despite less that favorable fishing conditions, with temperatures near freezing at the start of the tournament, nearly all that entered were able to bring checking size fish to the weigh-in.

Winning the tournament was Ellis Silvey. Ellis had a six fish limit that weighed 8.66 pounds. Tony Derby and Frank Hilton came in second with a stringer weight of 8.40 pounds. The third place stringer was weighed in by Craig Bartlett and Chris Gardner. Their stringer weighed 7.26 pounds. The big bass of tournament was caught by Johnny Ranallo. His bass weighed 2.22 pounds.

The club’s next bass tournament will be on Saturday, March 24. It will be held on Hugo Lake at Frazier Point Landing. Fishing times for the tournament will be from "safe light" until 4:00 p.m.
