City moving forward, demolishes hazordous buildings

February 8, 2013

The City of Antlers had out some heavy machinery earlier this week as they began demolition of 100+ year old buildings in the downtown area. County Commissioner District #2, Jerry Duncan, was more than willing to help as he manned the hydraulic excavator. City Manager Joel Taylor stated that the buildings had become a safety concern, were unusable and hazardous. Taylor went on to state that there is currently nothing planned for the lots but it was originally purchased to build a new fire station, but they were denied the grant.
