Elementary School Building to be Named in Honor of Longtime Educator

The Antlers Board of Education and Superintendent, Cary Ammons, will be conducting a ceremony to name the new elementary building on Thursday, November 21st at 4:00 p.m. The building will be named the “Aletha Burrage Building” in honor of long time principal and educator, Aletha Booker Burrage. The dedication ceremony will be located at the site of the building.

Mrs. Burrage began her 38 year education career in 1970, and then started teaching in Antlers in 1973. She taught in many areas of the elementary including 4th, 5th and 6th grades, special education, remedial math and language and gifted education. the last 20 years of her career was as principal of the elementary school.

After the dedication, a reception will follow in the elementary building. Members of the community are invited to attend.
