On Thursday, February 17, 2012, the Antlers Chapter of ESA donated $250 to the Antlers Public Library to help fund the E-Book service of the Oklahoma Virtual Library Consortium, which now has 15 member libraries from around the state. The Antlers Public Library has now raised the $1,500 annual fee to join this service.

Membership into this group will allow patrons of the Antlers Public Library access to over 4,000 e-books and 1,500 auto books. Access is handled through Overdrive.com and will include formats supported by Overdrive including downloads to PC’s, Apple Computers, Android, iPhone/pads and now Kindle.

Once this feature is up and running, the Overdrive app can be accessed through the Antlers Public Library’s website from any computer that has internet access. However, patrons will be required to register at the library and obtain a patron log-in before being able to use Overdrive. E-book checkout will be available sometime in April.

Joining the Consortium requires an annual fee that is not within the library’s current budget, so the library and Friends of the Library will continue to take donations to keep this service available to its’ patrons. The annual fee that was raised to start making this service available was made possible in part by the Antlers Chapter of the ESA, Friends of the Antlers Public Library and many individual donations.
