Homer Leon “Bully” Flatt

Homer Leon “Bully” Flatt was born November 8, 1923 in Caleokie, TX., to Lewis and Betsy (Jaw) Flatt. He passed from this life May 1, 2012 in Antlers at the age of 88. Bully served his country in the United States Army as a paratrooper during World War II. He married Clara E. Potts in Durant 41 years ago. Bully had been a resident of the Southeastern Oklahoma area for the past 32 years and was a member of the VFW, DAV, and American Legion. He was of the Non-Denominational faith and was a cattle rancher who enjoyed horses and horse auctions, playdays, racing cars, and his dogs. Bully loved spending time with his family and friends. Bully was preceded in death by his parents: Lewis & Betsy Flatt; children: Brenda Lane, Gary Flatt, & Bully Leon Flatt; a brother: Skinny Flatt; and sisters: Mama Bea Price and Evelene Bean. He is survived by his wife: Clara of the home; children: Susie Sisk & husband Jackie of TX, Mike Flatt of TX, Loretta Sweeden & husband Jeff of Ashland, Donnie Flatt of Antlers, & Shirley Flatt & Joy Love of Athens, TX; grandchildren: Richard Flatt, Deakin Jones, Tuffy Jones, J. R. Flatt, Belinda Flatt, James Carr, Kelly Lane, Gary Lane, Jackie Sisk, Eric Sisk, Steven Sisk, Michael Shores, Brent Shores, Dustin Hall, Nicole Flatt, & Ashley Flatt; special friends: Tuffy, Jamie, Cheyanne, Goober, Courtney, the Twins, Lisa Williams, Hollis Simpson, Tommie Jones, Johnny Spurlock, Delmer Coffelt, & Lionel Winters; as well as many other relatives and friends. Graveside Services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 4, 2012 at Hall Cemetery with Delmer Coffelt officiating. Music included performances by Willard Scarberry. Pallbearers included: Hollis Simpson, Lionel Winters, Marion Akins, Tim Reese, Deakin Jones, and Johnny Spurlock. Honorary Pallbearers were: Brock Hopsin and Charlie Brown. Interment will follow.
