Homer Lester Miller

Homer Lester Miller was born January 21, 1925, in Antlers, to Henry Lester and Ora Mae (Wilson) Miller. He passed from this life February 6, 2013 in Antlers, at the age of 88. Homer had been a resident of this area all of his life. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II, then later married Lillian Dewayne Jones on March 30, 1946 in Sevier County, AR. Together they raised three children and enjoyed 60 years of marriage before her passing. Homer spent most of his working years as a state worker with the Oklahoma Highway Department. He was a member of the Grand Lodge of Oklahoma-Ancient and Free & Accepted Masons Antlers Lodge 39. Homer enjoyed roping, working with cows & horses, playing dominoes, watching sports and the Thunder on TV, visiting with friends at the coffee shop, and going to the Senior Citizens Center. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family. Homer was preceded in death by his wife: Lillian Dewayne Miller; and a son: Sammy Ray Miller. He is survived by his son: Randall Miller & wife Jo of Ft. Towson; daughter: Linda Spencer of Wayne; grandchildren: Clint Miller & wife Lindsey of Frogville, Brett Miller & wife Melissa of Ft. Towson, Randi Nabors & spouse Smitty of Durant & Jim Spencer & wife Racquel of Wayne; 9 great-grandchildren; as well as many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, February 9, 2013 at Mills & Coffey Funeral Chapel with Pastor Brett Miller officiating. Music was “The Old Rugged Cross” & “Amazing Grace”. Pallbearers included Kenneth Autry, Jim Calhoun, Mark Gardner, Douglas Hobbs, Clinton Lewis, Raymond Lough, & Henry Watson with Honorary Pallbearers as Harold Walling, Red Westbrook, Floyd Pryor, & Lowell Burgess.
