Local wins MMA Championship

February 15, 2013

Over the weekend a live MMA Fight took place at the Grant Choctaw Casino Event Center. Attendees were thrilled to watch every punch of this hard-hitting mixed martial arts
sport as the Rage on the River returned to the casino for the second time, “Revenge.”

Local assistant manager at Sonic, Perry Cannon, stepped into the octagon against Mike Wright, a fighter from Ft. Smith, TX., but the fight didn’t last long. After a mere 33 seconds into the first round, Cannon won the bout with a guillotine choke, leaving his opponent unable to fend Cannon off.

Cannon has gained a following of local supporters, many of which were present to watch his victory, who cheered when he hoisted his trophy up on Saturday night, February 9th. Cannon was named the Light Heavy Weight Rage On The River Amateur Champion.

Cannon has been training vigorously with Steve Young at The Pit in Poteau. Cannon’s loving and supportive wife, Jennifer, has been beside him all the way, as well as his sponsors: Matthew Early and Sonic Drive-In, Subway, B.J. Coggins and Antlers Motorsports, and The Movie Rack.
