Many residents of t he Miller-Jumbo area turned out for the bridge dedication ceremony for the new bridge that spans 10 Mile Creek on Miller-Jumbo Road.

The bridge was dedicated to the late Sylvester Smith, Earl Smith’s father, and George “Buddy” Henderson on Wednesday, December 19, 2012.

After at least 80 years of continuous service, the old arch rock bridge remains intact but has been blocked from any future vehicular traffic.

“We are really proud of our County Commissioner, Michael Brittingham,” said former commissioner, Finnish Whiteside. Whiteside is the man responsible for getting the project started in the 80’s. “I’ve been waiting to see this done for a long time. Many commissioners went in and came out of office but Mike got right to work and got the job done.”
