Reverend Douglas Dean Maggard was born September 13, 1928 in Octavia, to Ballard Estes and Evadne (Wilson) Maggard. He passed from this life November 28, 2012 in Kent Community, at the age of 84. Douglas married Clara Mae Hall on November 17, 1952 in Tucumcari, NM, and together they raised two daughters. Douglas was a minister who preached in WA, OR, AR and OK. He was also a mechanic, and did paint & body repair in his shop south of Antlers. He enjoyed hunting & fishing as well as spending time with his family and friends. Douglas was preceded in death by his parents: Ballard & Evadne Maggard; brothers: Alton Maggard, Sam Maggard, Leon Maggard, & Ballard Estes Maggard, Jr.; sisters: Evanda McPherson & Ramona Phillips. He is survived by his wife: Clara of the home; daughters: Serena Cress & husband Lawrence of Antlers, and Anna Alexia Maggard of Antlers; granddaughter: Brandy Mathews; great-grandchildren: Caleb, Tanner, Fallon, Dalton, & Evanda; brothers: John Raymond Maggard of MO and Luke Maggard of Wichita, KS; sister: Pauline Davis of Octavia; as well as many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM, Monday, December 3, 2012 at Kent Baptist Church with Reverend Phillip Savage officiating. Music selection included: â€śBrethren, We Have Met To Worshipâ€ť, â€śAmazing Graceâ€ť, â€śAbide With Meâ€ť, & â€śHow Great Thou Artâ€ť. Pallbearers included: Robert Loyd Spalding, Darrell Spalding, Frank Spalding, Robert Branton, Ronny Branton, & Roland Branton. Interment followed at 2:00 PM, Monday, December 3, 2012 at Octavia Cemetery in Octavia. Family and friends may send online condolences at www.millscoffey.com.
