Roger Merle Scott

Roger Merle Scott was born June 1, 1940, in Antlers, to Joe E. and Irene (Edmond) Scott. He passed from this life August 4, 2013, in Antlers, at the age of 73. Roger had lived in the Antlers area all of his life. He married Mildred Franks on December 4, 1959, in Ethel, and they had enjoyed 53 years of marriage. Roger worked for Pushmataha County as a truck driver. He was a member of Antlers First Baptist Church, as well as the Kiamichi Fox & Wolf Hunter Association, American Quarter Horse Association, & the American Angus Association. He enjoyed being a grandfather most of all, but before the grandkids he loved hunting, fishing, & ranching. Roger loved spending time with his family and friends. Roger was preceded in death by his parents: Joe & Irene Scott; and a brother: Jimmy Scott. He is survived by his loving, devoted wife: Mildred of the home; children: Brett Scott & wife Lorrie of College Station, TX, Todd Scott & wife Rachel of Antlers, and Melissa Jo Scott of Antlers; grandchildren: Joey Scott, Jeff Scott, Sidney Scott, McKenzie Scott, & Kyle Scott; great-grandchild: Lux Scott; sisters: Patsy Etchieson of Antlers and Carole Turner of Shawnee; as well as many other relatives and friends. Memorial Services were held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at Antlers First Baptist Church with Reverend Jim Gentry & Reverend Aaron Reed officiating. Music was “Where We Never Grow Old”, “I Want To Stroll Over Heaven With You”, & “Go Rest High On That Mountain”. Honorary Pallbearers included Otis Martin, Harold Mathews, Billy Winters, Billy Jack Wilkerson, Tony Dunlap, Eric Wallace, Joey Martin, Clegg McAdams, Allen Rosenthal, Roger Dixon, & Kenneth Dickerson. Private Family Inurnment will occur at a later date at Oddfellows Cemetery. Family and friends may send online condolences at www.millscoffey.com.
