Superintendent’s Corner

December 15, 2011

By Cary Ammons, Antlers Public School Superintendent

Antlers Public School Calendar Committee is currently exploring a couple of different options for the 2012-2013 School Year. Administration will be sending home surveys to gather input from our parents, students and community. The survey will be placed with their Report Cards and will be mailed January 11, 2012. We are asking for the completed surveys back at school on January 17, 2012.

Antlers Public Schools will be dismissing school for Christmas Break starting Wednesday, December 21, 2011, and will be back in session on Wednesday, January 4th, 2012. There will be many opportunities during this break for catching a ball game during our Holiday Festival. Many county schools will be included in the festival. As well, students will have plenty of time to read their favorite book. Teachers are encouraging our students to take advantage of reading opportunities.

Our Elementary Christmas Play will be held on Friday, December 16th in the High School Auditorium. Parents and community are invited to as the show will start at 1:30 p.m. Please make plans to attend. As for me, the fun during these plays are the little things our children do, like singing really loud and being embarrassed in front of large audiences.

In closing, take the time to enjoy some of the many activities at Antlers Public Schools during this Holiday Season, and take the time to teach your children the true meaning of Christmas. From the entire faculty at Antlers Public Schools, Administration, and Antlers Board of Education, We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
