Wet Roadways Cause Fatality

On Monday, May 2, 2011 between the hours of 5:00 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. a fatality collision occurred on State Highway 3 approximately 2 miles east of Rattan.

A black 2005 Chevrolet Impala being driven by Brandon Ray Winship, a 24 year-old american indian from Rattan, was traveling west on HWY. 3 when he departed the roadway to the right and struck the guardrail causing the vehicle to overturn once and come to rest beside a small creek.  The driver was partially ejected through the passenger-side window.

Winship expired at the scene with massive head trauma and was transported by Mills & Coffey Funeral Home of Antlers to their facility.  Officers believe that the cause of the collision was Winship was traveling to fast on a wet road and lost control.  The condition of the driver at the time of the collision is unknown.

This collision was investigated by  Trooper Chris Dennis #223 of the Pushmataha/Choctaw County Detachment Troop E.
