Wreck kills one

Stewart G. Holmes, of Wister, passed away following a collision that occurred on February 8, 2013. He passed away on Feb. 9th at 7:30 a.m. at St. John’s Hospital in Tulsa due to injuries sustained in the collision.

The collision occurred on HWY 271 and Cephas Roberts Road near Albion in Pushmataha County.

Holmes’ 2005 Nissan Altama was westbound on HWY 271 and ran off the roadway to the left for unknown reasons and struck a tree. The driver, Holmes, was pinned for 25 minutes before being freed by Clayton and Talihina Fire Departments when they utilized the Jaws of Life.

The condition of the driver and cause of the collision are still under investigation. Holmes was transported by Air Evac to St. Johns with head, arm, leg, trunk, internal and external injuries and was listed in critical condition.

Investigated by Trooper Chris Dennis #223 of Push Co Detachment, assisted by Clayton Police Department, Clayton Fire Department, Talihina Fire Department, Clayton EMS and LeFlore County EMS.
