
Kiamichi Technology Center – Atoka Campus students won numerous regional contests, qualifying them for the State SkillsUSA Leadership and Skills Competition. The State SkillsUSA Conference was held in Tulsa on May 1st -3rd. Competing at the state level in leadership competitions were Lindsey Chitwood, Adult Job Interview; Daniel Womack, High School Extemporaneous Speech; Morgan Devora, High School Job Interview; Quiz Bowl Team Takia Alexander, Jacob Callicoat, Kendall Lane, Shelby Payne, and Roni Hamilton; and Opening and Closing Team Taylor Howard, Mika Edwards, Faith Mincher, Monica Mosely, Bridget Moton, Madison Poore, and RoxAnne Prater.
Competing in Skills Competitions at State were the following: Cosmetology (Instructor, Shelly Callicoat) – Lindsey Chitwood, Jennifer Morris, Faith Mincher and Mika Edwards; Carpentry (Instructor, Jim Marley) – John Miller and Adam Jobe; Welding (Instructor, Jody Goodson) – Chris Valeri; Computer Networking Technology (Instructor, Laurie Ables) – Austin Brown, Adam Idell and Christie Robertson.
Competitors placing in the top three in the state were honored on stage in front of thousands. Walking on stage to represent KTC – Atoka were: Daniel Womack- 3rd Place, High School Extemporaneous Speech; Jennifer Morris – 2nd Place, Adult Hair; and 3rd place Opening and Closing Team (Taylor Howard, Mika Edwards, Faith Mincher, Monica Mosely, Bridget Moton, Madison Poore, and RoxAnne Prater) .
