Wiley Eugene “Dub” Napier Jr. was born on June 25, 1921 in the Miller Community to Wyly E. and Joyce (Anderson) Napier. He passed from this life on Friday, May 29, 2011 in Antlers at the age of 89. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII after high school from 1942-1945. Dub attended the technical college in Okmulgee after his military service and earned his mechanic certificates. He was a really good mechanic. Dub worked in McAlester before moving back to Antlers, where he worked 10 years with the Roy Jackson dealership. Wiley married Betty Jean Byard on October 16, 1981 in Atoka. In 1962, Dub moved to Hugo and worked 25 years with Wallace Motors dealership before his retirement. He loved to fish, especially catfish, and dance. Dub was known for his several large gardens from which he sold some of the best produce around. He also enjoyed picking pecans and selling them to all the locals. He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Pat and Jess Ross, the mother of his daughters, Odelia Mae (Shaw) Napier; the mother of his son, Wanda Lucille Dillishaw; two grandsons, Cary and Kacy Whittmore. Wiley is survived by his wife Betty Jean, of the home; one son, Wiley Joe Napier and wife Danna of Antlers; five daughters, Wylene Smith and husband Eddie of Hugo, Brenda Dodson of LaQuinta, CA, Marcia Hinkle of Hugo, Debbie Thomas of Edmond, Stacey Weirick and husband Rod of Lenexa, KS; 15 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; one sister, Evelyn Stone of Longview, TX; two nephews and one niece; special friends, Clint Merida, Richard Dodson, and Tony Whittmore. The family received friends on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 between 7-8 p.m. at the Mt. Olive Funeral Home Chapel in Hugo. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2011 at 10 a.m. at the Antlers City Cemetery in Antlers.
