Joe Dwayne Kennedy was born October 13, 1937 in Hugo to Joe Edgar and Thelma (Pate) Kennedy. He passed from this life on June 16, 2011 in Finley at the age of 73. Joe was retired from the Pipeliners Union Local 798, where he was an inspector for Operator Engineer’s Union Local 12 at the Nevada test site. He was a resident of the Finley area for the past 20 years, and a member of Finley Baptist Church. He married Jackie Hayes on November 28, 1997 in Finley. He was a member of Bassmaster Classic Association, Oklahoma Game Breeders Association, & Louisiana Game Breeders. Joe enjoyed fishing, game rooster competitions, playing cards, & spending time with family and friends. Joe was preceded in death by his first wife: Francis Jean Wise Kennedy; parents: Joe & Thelma “Pat” Kennedy; a sister: Jan Kennedy Thompson; his grandparents: Jess & Lottie Pate; and a stepson: Mike Henson. He is survived by his wife: Jackie of the home; daughter: Patricia Kennedy & spouse Bryan Soliwada; son: Kent Kennedy & wife Crystal; four grandchildren: Casey J. Soliwoda, Aryan J. Soliwoda, Skyler J. Kennedy, & Ali Hecht; as well as many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 19, 2011 at the Finley Baptist Church with Reverend Bradley O’Dell officiating and with Ray Pool delivering the eulogy. Musical selections included “Amazing Grace” performed by Lola Hill, “I’ll Fly Away” and “The Old Rugged Cross.” Pallbearers included: Kent Kennedy , Bryan Soliwoda, Troy Messer, Ty Landreth, Robert Hill and Walter Hill. Honorary pallbearers included all friends & brothers of Joe Kennedy. Interment followed at the Finley Cemetery. Family and friends may send online condolences at www.millscoffey.com .
