Garvis Leon Crenshaw was born October 31, 1943, in Poteau to Robert and Eller (Goins) Crenshaw. He passed from this life July 26, 2011, in Shreveport, LA., at the age of 67. Garvis served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He married Rebecca Braden on January 3, 1989, in Hugo. Garvis had lived in this area for fifteen years. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchild. Garvis was preceded in death by his parents: Robert & Eller Crenshaw; brothers: Lewis Crenshaw, Jr. Crenshaw, & Edgar Crenshaw; sisters: Margie Parker, Hazel Carson, & Dorene Harris. He is survived by his wife: Rebecca “Becky” of the home; sons: Kyle Crenshaw of the home and Garvis Crenshaw, Jr. of Pennsylvania; daughters: Shayleena Crenshaw of the home and Charlotte Lynn Johnson of Miami; five grandchildren: Autin Vipperman, Ashley Johnson, Gibby Johnson, Lacey Johnson, and Nathan Johnson; brother: Calvin Petrey of Colorado; sisters: Freda Riley & husband Jim of Glenpool and Ione Hammans of Poteau; as well as many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2011 at the Jesus Name Assembly of God in Panama with Pastor Daniel Cress officiating. Musical selections included: “I’ll Meet You in the Morning,” “When He Was on the Cross” and “I Can Only Imagine.” Pallbearers were: Ricky Crenshaw, Mike Crenshaw, Waylon Crenshaw, Jerry Harris, Ron Harris, Keith Davis, Kendel Davis and Tommy Saulters.
