Douglas “Doug” Elmore King was born on November 28, 1945 in Atoka to Elgin and Flossie Mae (Pool) King. He passed from this life on Sunday, October 2, 2011 in Denison, TX., at the age of 67. Doug spent his school days attending classes at Atoka and Moyers Schools. He later went on to proudly serve his country as part of the United States Army. Doug married Virginia (Bowling) on August 28, 1963 in Tahoka, TX. Doug spent his working years as a Truck Driver and was of the Baptist faith. Doug was preceded in death by his father, Elgin King; son, Ronnie Gene King; sister, Delores Jean Rember and brother, Freddie Dewayne King. He is survived by his wife, Virginia King of the home in Farris; mother, Flossie Mae (Pool) King of Antlers; daughter, Brenda Pickens of Farris; Grandchildren, Brandon Davis and fiancé, Lindsay Golden of Atoka and April Pickens of Farris; great-grandchildren Julianna Davis of Atoka, Harlee Duncan of Atoka, Dawson Brawdy of Atoka; siblings, Thomas King and wife Barbara of Elmore City, Linda Martin and husband Rodney of Midland, Tx., Alice Campbell of Calera, Tonya Hoskins and husband Stormy of Roswell, NM., Jerry King of Hartshorne, Terry King and wife Cathie of Calera and Vickie Yerta and husband David of Clayton, along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 6, 2011 at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Atoka with Rodney Martin officiating.
