With kids going back to school, and the summer season drawing to a close, we are left with the anticipation of fall and a new crop of fantastic flicks. In the month of August some great titles were released.
The week of August 21st: Bernie (PG13), Freelancers (R), One in the Chamber (R), The Dictator (R), and Virgina (R) were released.
The week of August 28th: Apartment 143 (R), Lovely Molly (R), Think like a man (PG13), Pirates: Band of Misfits (PG13), Battleship (PG13), and The Lucky One (PG13) hit the shelves.
Kicking-off September were: Five Year Engagement (a new comedy that follows an engaged couple who keep getting tripped up on the way to the alter), For the Love of Money (R - a man leaves a gangster-filled lifestyle but the crime he tried to escape from finds him after he relocates his family), High School (R - a school institutes a drug policy and the soon-to-be valedictorian has two options, lose his scholarship or try to beat the system), Safe (R - a cage fighter on the wrong side of the Russian mob comes to the aid of a chinese girl being pursued by the same mobsters.
Being released to DVD this week (on Tuesday, September 11th) were:
6 Bullets (R): Jean-Claude Van Damme is an unstoppable mercenary with a dark past who reluctantly returns to action in order to find a missing girl.
Bad Karma (R): Jack, a hardcore criminal has turned his life around. His former partner is released from prison, he tracks Jack down to blackmail him into one last job.
For Greater Glory (R): What price would you pay for freedom? An imprisoned group of men and women each make the decision to risk it all for family, faith and the very future of the country in this action epic.
Girl in Progress (R): Grace is a single mom. She is too busy juggling work, bills and a married man, to give her teenage daughter the attention she needs. When the girl’s teacher introduces coming-of-age stories, she is inspired to jump-start her life without her mom.
The Loved Ones (R): A twisted, horrified tale of teen romance gone awry. When Lola’s prom request is rejected by her crush, he dad kidnaps him and, together, father and daughter throw their own terrifying prom.
Rosewood Lane (R): Radio talk show therapist Sonny Blake moves back to her childhood home after the death of her father. She discovers her neighbors are all terrified of the local paperboy. She finds this ridiculous until she encounters him herself.
Snow White & The Huntsman (PG13): A twist to the classic Snow White story, Kristen Stewart play the only person in the land fairer than the evil queen who is out to destroy her. But what the wicked queen never imagines was that the young woman has been training in the art of war with the huntsman, who was dispatched to kill her.
What to Expect When your Expecting (PG13): A hilarious and heartfelt comedy about 5 couples whose intertwined lives are turned upside down by the challenges of impending parenthood.
