Antlers Public Library has partnered with the I.R.S. in an attempt to better serve the people. The program is known as Facilitated Self Assistance or FSA. It is a concept designed to provide increased taxpayer access to free tax preparation services and will hopefully empower taxpayers who qualify to do their own returns making them self-sufficient in tax preparation.
Because this service is offered, and the I.R.S. is encouraging E-filing, the library will not have the paper forms available.
This program was put in place to assist with expanding access to taxpayers who are eligible for free tax preparation. On the Antlers Public Library’s website, there is a list of free tax preparations sites that are recommended by the I.R.S. since there is a growing number of sites that are set up to look like free sites.
The Antlers Public Library is among a small group who are offering this service. The Library will all patrons to use the land line phone to call tech support but the library personnel can NOT provide help with the preparation of your taxes. However, they will help get you to the website and assist you in contacting tech support. If you would like a printed version of your tax paperwork it will cost 25¢ per page.
Lois Poe, with the Little Dixie Community Action Agency, has volunteered to serve as the mandatory tech support. Taxpayers are responsible for inputting their own return data on the computer.
Patrons interested in taking advantage of this great resource can do so during 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Individuals who wish to access the website from home can do so by visiting www.antlerslibrary.okpls.org and clicking on the Free Tax Filing Help link.
