The Choctaw Nation stickball team, Tvshka Homma, advanced to the finals and defeated the Mississippi Warriors 3-2 in double elimination Sunday to become champions of the third annual Labor Day Festival Stickball Tournament. Tvshka Homma's win over the Warriors, 6-1, in opening night action Friday is the first time an Oklahoma team has defeated a team from Mississippi.
Games between the two: Tvshka Homma defeated Okla Hannali Friday night and advanced to second round on Saturday. They won over a Mississippi team for the first time ever. Final score of the Saturday game was Tvshka Homma 6, Warriors 1.
On Sunday, following a children’s exhibition game at 7 p.m., and a women’s exhibition at 8 p.m., the two teams met again with the Mississippi Warriors dominating and scoring 4 to Tvshka Homma’s 0. Both with one loss, the teams played back-to-back on the last night of the double-elimination tournament. In the battle for the championship, the end of the first quarter had the two tied at 2-2 and the second and third quarters were scoreless. Tvshka Homma scored in the last quarter. Final was 3-2.

Other Oklahoma teams in the tournament included Okla Hannali and Mahlihoma.
Most of the players on the Tvshka Homma team are from southeastern Oklahoma. Practice fields are located in Tuskahoma, Broken Bow, Hugo, Idabel, Durant, Atoka, Antlers and Talihina.
